Driving Healthcare into the Digital Age
GE, the first to usher medical X-ray into the digital age, is now working to digitize the world of anatomical pathology in a big way. Last year, GE Healthcare and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a world-class center for the study of pathology, formed a joint company, Omnyx, with the goal of commercializing the first FDA-approved instrument. The company will take a prototype scanner developed at GE’s Global Research Center and work to digitize an industry that for more than 125 years has relied upon a microscope and glass slides.
